About
Traditional Bowhunters of California was created in 2002 by Vince and Cathy Grgas and a group of traditional archery enthusiasts as a fundraiser for charity. Since that time in 2002, the TBC Rendezvous has evolved into much more than was ever expected.
Our intention from the start was to give traditional archers a weekend of friendly competition, fun, camaraderie, and the luxury of sleeping under the stars, because as you know these events are few and far between. It is these types of events that help keep the old traditions alive, with those who attend able to see the artisans who show their wares and their craft as they demonstrate their skills. Bowyers, arrow smiths, falconers, flintknappers, knife makers, leather workers, jewelry artists, woodworkers and more, attend to make the rendezvous atmosphere something that we are most grateful for. Our vendors list is long and grows each year.
In 2022, the original TBC team passed the torch to the next generation. None of this would be possible without the hard work and dedication of a small group of people over the last 20 years (Harry & Mary Craggs, Kelly & Tony Harrison, Christine & Mike Smith, Mike Nakich Maury Freitas, Chris Beakmen, and Vince & Cathy Grgas) who worked each year to create a space for traditional archery to thrive. We are honored to have the opportunity to continue the tradition of this widely anticipated and beloved event.
This event is usually held in early April, rain or shine.
